1st Day IT : 5th April 2010

1. First time reporting for duty at KLIA Consultancy Services Sdn Bhd branch which served as the headquarters for the Seremban – Gemas Electrified Double Track Project ( SGEDT ) located at Straits Trading Building.





2. KLIA Consult is a child company of KLIA Holdings and the government holds about 30 % stake in it.

3. My introduction was given by Mr. Nordin and he briefed a little bit about the company, its current and past projects and the attitude in a working place if an employee wants to succeed. The double railway project is a government project worth RM 3.5 Billion according to him.

4. After that brief meeting, it is acquired for me to report as soon as possible to the SGEDT Project branch in Seremban.

5. I arrived in Seremban at about 11 am and went in to see Mr. Zain. As with Mr. Nordin, he also briefed me about the railway project between Seremban and Gemas, what is basically I am going to do and the difference work scope between mechanical engineer, electrical engineer and civil engineer.

6. The chief engineer for SGEDT project is Mr. Loo. As he was in a meeting earlier in the day, he only managed to see me later in the evening at about 4 pm. He interviewed me a bit about my education background and tell me that I am going to learn a little of something from different aspects of disciplines.

7. My 1st assignment is to understand and review the architecture and mechanical drawing of Sungai Gadut Station.

8. The drawing list is as follows :
i. Lift services
ii. Cold water services
iii. Sanitary services
iv. Air conditioning and mechanical ventilation system
v. Fire protection services

9. As this is a project governed by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd, person in charge of it Mr. Arshad wants to know me as well. The talk with him went on for a while as he explained about trains, its systems, the railways, the defect of a railway, job scope and safety hazards.






10. Finally, I get to meet host supervisor, Mr. Eddy. He is the chief architect of this project. He explained why do we need to look at the drawings as given by Mr. Loo and as there are two trainees here, myself and Muhammad Nazmie, he asked us to decide which one is going to look at ‘buildings’ and which one is going to learn about ‘utilities’.

11. After all is done, I checked out for the first time at 6 pm.
